Description About Us: Arthritis Consultants of Tidewater is a patient-centered rheumatology practice dedicated to providing exceptional care for individuals with autoimmune and musculoskeletal disorders. Our in-office infusion suite provides a comfortable, safe, and supportive environment for patients receiving biologic and IV therapies. Position Summary: We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Infusion Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Rheumatology practice. This role combines direct patient care with administrative and care coordination responsibilities, supporting high-quality infusion services and efficient clinic operations. The ideal candidate is clinically proficient, detail-oriented, and comfortable balancing hands-on nursing care with documentation, scheduling, and patient communication. Clinical Responsibilities Administer IV infusions and injectable medications (e.g., biologics) according to provider orders and established protocols Perform patient assessments prior to, during, and after infusions/injections Monitor patients for adverse reactions and respond appropriately, including emergency interventions when necessary Educate patients on medications, potential side effects, infusion processes, and post-treatment care Maintain IV access, manage venipuncture, and ensure proper medication preparation and handling Collaborate closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, and clinical staff Ensure compliance with infection control, safety standards, and regulatory requirements Administrative Responsibilities Patient Scheduling for Infusion and/or Injection Appointment Document all treatments, assessments, and patient interactions accurately in the EHR Assist with medication inventory management, ordering, and storage compliance Communicate with patients regarding appointments, lab requirements, and treatment plans Support billing and coding accuracy through complete and timely clinical documentation Participate in quality improvement initiatives and protocol updates Maintain infusion suite organization and readiness Benefits: Competitive compensation package Health, dental, and vision insurance Paid time off and holidays Supportive, team-oriented work environment Opportunities for professional growth and training Requirements Required Qualifications: Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Virginia Minimum of 2 years of recent clinical nursing experience — preferably in infusion, critical care, oncology, or a specialty outpatient setting Proficient IV insertion and venipuncture skills, including peripheral line management and troubleshooting BLS certification (Basic Life Support) – current and valid Knowledge of infusion therapy protocols, IV medication preparation, and patient monitoring procedures Strong organization, Communication, and multitasking skills. Strong documentation skills in an electronic medical record (EMR); NextGen experience is a plus Excellent communication and patient education skills, with a compassionate bedside manner Ability to recognize and respond to infusion reactions or emergencies promptly and appropriately Preferred Qualifications: Rheumatology or immunology infusion experience (e.g., biologic therapies such as Remicade, Actemra, Orencia, etc.) ACLS certification (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) Experience working in an outpatient infusion center or physician office setting Familiarity with insurance authorization and infusion scheduling processes Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with physicians and clinical staff
