QUALIFICATIONS NECESSARY:

  1. Registered Nursing License in good standing with the Provincial College of Nurses
  2. Current CPR mandatory
  3. Mental Health Experience mMandatory
  4. Minimum 2 years experience as an IV Nurse OR Outpatient IV Services * IV Certification is an Asset*
  5. Vulnerable Sector Screen renewed within the year
  6. Professional Liability Insurance

SKILLS & ABILITY:

  1. High level of proficiency with Microsoft office applications, software applications.
  2. Ability to think critically and multitask in a high-pressure situation.
  3. Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team member; establish and maintain
    cooperative and collaborative working relationships with members of the interdisciplinary team, and
    exercise judgment by participating in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of client care according to college standards.
  4. Behavior consistent with the clinic’s Standards of Performance.
Responsibilities

BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Performs according to the Standards of Professional Practice set out by the Provincial College of Nurses of and in compliance with the policies, procedures and standards of the facility
  2. Accepts clinical responsibility and professional accountability for the care delivered to assigned clients.
  3. Participates as a member of the interdisciplinary health care team, fulfilling responsibilities as a member of the nursing discipline.
  4. Complies with The Ethical Framework for Nurses

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

  1. Review medical history, allergies, and contraindications.
  2. Assess overall health status before vaccination.
    3.Follow aseptic technique and proper handling of vaccines.
  3. Prepare doses according to manufacturer guidelines.
  4. Administer vaccines safely via appropriate route (IM, subcutaneous, intradermal, or oral).
  5. Adhere to “6 Rights” of medication administration (right patient, drug, dose, time, route, documentation)
  6. Observe patients post-vaccination for immediate reactions
  7. Recognize and respond to adverse events, including anaphylaxis (be competent in emergency response protocols and use of epinephrine)
  8. Maintain infection prevention and control standards (hand hygiene, PPE use, proper disposal of sharps).
  9. Ensure cold chain management and correct vaccine storage/transportation
  10. Carry out all work assignments safely and be knowledgeable of and in compliance with relevant regulations, policies and procedures in compliance with Occupational Health and Safety Act and its
    regulations, as well as other legislation as applicable.
