Knox College Position Description Title: Certified Medical Assistant/Licensed Practical Nurse /Registered Nurse Reports To: Director of Health Services Division/Department: Student Development FLSA: Non-exempt Purpose: Knox College seeks an enthusiastic and caring Certified Medical Assistant/Licensed Practical Nurse/Registered Nurse to support the operations of Knox College Student Health Services. This 10-month position will assist the APP in providing professional primary health care to a diverse student body, emphasizing health promotion and disease prevention.  Key Responsibilities: * Conduct initial patient assessment to document chief complaint and obtain vital signs and health history. * Assist APP with patient examinations and procedures. * Implement orders from APP or Supervising Physician and document accurately in electronic medical record system. * Maintain adequate supplies in exam and treatment rooms. * Manage supply inventory by monitoring medical supplies and non-prescription medications. * Assist in collecting and/or performing laboratory and diagnostic testing. * Facilitate prescription refills as needed. * Counsel patients under the direction of the APP in self-care, prevention, treatment, and follow-up. * Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA guidelines and regulations. * Other duties as assigned. Required Education/Licensures * Certification/Licensure to practice n the State of Illinois  * Valid CPR/AED certification.  * Maintain and participate in professional development and certification through continuing education opportunities. * Phlebotomy certification preferred. Required Skills and Experience * Demonstrated experience with patient assessment/triage.  * Previous experience in an outpatient clinical setting.  * Excellent interpersonal communication skills with the ability to establish and maintain successful and effective relationships with a diverse student population. * Demonstrated experience with electronic medical records.
Responsibilities
The Registered Nurse will conduct initial patient assessments, assist with examinations, and implement orders from the APP or Supervising Physician. They will also maintain supplies, manage inventory, and counsel patients on self-care and prevention.
