The Department of Neonatology is home to the ACT and surrounding NSW’s only tertiary-level 5–6 neonatal service, offering cutting-edge, compassionate care for our tiniest patients and their families. Our comprehensive service includes the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), Special Care Nursery (SCN), ACT NETS retrieval service, Newborn and Parent Support Service (NAPSS), and the Newborn Growth and Development Clinic. With 36 funded beds and around 3,800 births annually at CHWC, we care for 750–800 neonatal admissions each year in a technologically advanced, developmentally supportive, and family-centred environment.
