The Intensive Care Unit is a dynamic 41‑bed Level 3 Territory Referral Centre that admits more than 1,900 patients each year and proudly holds unlimited accreditation with the College of Intensive Care Medicine of Australia and New Zealand. As a core ANZICS member, the unit delivers specialist training across Neurosurgery, Cardio-Thoracics and Trauma, supported by advanced trainees providing after‑hours cover. With strong international collaborations in multi‑disciplinary research and a deep commitment to both undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, the unit thrives within Canberra Health Services—the region’s sole tertiary hospital serving over 650,000 people.
