The Role
We are currently seeking a motivated, efficient, and proactive Registered Nurse to join our newly established Orthopaedic Institute (Ward 5) in Macquarie University Hospital. The Registered Nurse (RN) role is an integral member of the multidisciplinary health care team that meets the diverse needs of patients using contemporary professional best practice standards. The RN applies advanced risk assessments, plans interventions, and delivers care that is safe, appropriate and clinically effective.
With a starting date in late April, we are seeking a Registered Nurse with high flexibility and availability as they will be put on a rotating roster across any day of the week (weekends included) and shifts. At least two years experience in Orthopeadics’ is essential

Key accountabilities of this role include:
- Provides care in accordance with documented care or treatment plans while prioritising workload based on patient needs, acuity and optimal time for intervention
- Ensures that all documentation is accurate and completed in a professional and timely manner, and in accordance with MQ Health Policy
- Participate in the identification, design and implementation of quality improvement activities, including policy review and development, self-initiated and directed by other members of MQ Health
- Demonstrates a willingness to work positively within a team to achieve team goals and the provision of excellence in care/service delivery

To Apply
To be considered for this position, you will demonstrate the below requirements in your resume
- Minimum 2 years’ experience, experience in Orthopaedics’ essential
- Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse
- Excellent organisational and time management skills and a proven ability to prioritise and multitask in a fast-paced environment and critical incidents.
- Flexible schedule (Monday-Friday preferred with possible alternating Saturdays)
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and exercise independent professional judgement and critical thinking
- Well-developed computer skills including the use of electronic medical records systems, Microsoft Word, Excel and web-based research
Role-Specific Conditions
- Valid Working with Children Check (WWCC) for NSW (Please provide your WWCC number in your application)
- Registered Nurse/Enrolled Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
- MQ Health Immunisation screening
- This position requires a Criminal History Check
- Flexibility to work a variety of shifts (including weekends)
