  JOB TITLE:   Registered Nurse                 DEPARTMENT:    Nursing (floor)               JOB RELATIONSHIPS:   Responsible to:        Director of Nursing Responsible for:       LPN,s, Nursing Assistants              Interrelationships:     Works cooperatively with all hospital                                          Departments and the Medical Staff.   JOB SUMMARY:   Provides professional nursing care to patients according to established procedures; coordinates care planning with other disciplines.     JOB QUALIFICATIONS:   Experience:               Experience preferred but not required   Education:                 Graduate of an accredited program of nursing   Req. Cert./                 Registration and current RN license in the state where Registration:             employed, CPR certified, unit specified requirements                                     ACLS required.     JOB DUTIES (This list may not include all of the duties assigned.)   1. Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, continuous quality improvement program, environmental and infection control standards and other administrative duties as assigned.   1. Writes initial nursing histories, assess patient’s conditions and develop individual care plans for patients.   1. Administers and controls narcotics and medications   1. Evaluates outcomes of patient care, consults with other specialist as required and adjusts nursing care processes as necessary to ensure optimal patient care   1. Monitors, maintains, and ensures accuracy of recording patient care documentation, Maintains all required reports, records, stats, etc.   1. Maintains a safe, comfortable and therapeutic environment for patient’s families in accordance with hospital standards.   1. Maintains patient records and charts to ensure an accurate record of patient’s medical treatment   1. Observes emotional stability of patients, expresses interest in their progress and prepares for continuing care after discharge.   1. Assists other members of the nursing team and/or other disciplines   1. Assist physicians with examinations, procedures and other processes related to direct patient care   1. Demonstrates sensitivity to patient comfort and privacy   1. Arranges for patients ordered diagnostic and therapeutic services.   1. Monitors medical condition of the patient report changes to the appropriate personnel.   1. Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops.   1. Attends meetings as required.   1. Ensures an adequate stock of supplies and proper functioning of equipment.   1. Cooperates with other personnel to achieve department objectives and maintain good employee relations and interdepartmental objectives.   1. Orients, instructs, and trains assigned personnel.   1. Demonstrates competency and professionalism in performing the overall patient care and supervisory responsibilities of the RN position.   1. Maintains confidentiality as defined by hospital policy.
