Alberta Health Services is currently searching for an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Notifiable Disease & Outbreak program team. Reporting to the Associate Manager Provincial Notifiable Disease & Outbreak, the RN provides education, follow up, reporting, expertise & consultation relating to communicable disease control. Duties that include: preventing infection through education & implementation of public health measures including provision of prophylaxis, investigations & reporting for both routine notifiable diseases (ND) & rare or emerging diseases (e.g., Ebola, MPox, and pandemic COVID-19), outbreak management in a variety of settings, responding to community blood and body fluid exposures and infection control breeches reported to the Medical Officer of Health, continuous active and passive monitoring and surveillance of communicable diseases in the community, liaising with internal and external stakeholders to identify barriers and issues to implementing public health recommendations, & to coordinate public health follow-up. Crucially the RN is a link between the local public health centre and the provincial CDC program. The incumbent will perform a critical role in communication, development, implementation, and evaluation of province-wide CDC immunization and ND standards & guidelines in AHS for business operations and service delivery. The RN must bring dynamic written and verbal communication skills as they frequently engage in patient interviews and remote assessments in a complex healthcare environment. The RN participates in leading change and acts as the expert resource for healthcare staff and external partners. This is a remote position that may require occasional travel into a designated CDC site as operationally required.

You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit Holders shall be paid $39.58 /hour - $54.16/hour. Upon being entered into the register of Registered Nurses, the rate of pay shall be adjusted to the rate of pay applicable to a Registered Nurse in accordance with AHS/UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.
