NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. The shift pattern for this post will be Monday to Sunday and will consist of early / late and night shifts.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 Theatre perioperative practitioner post, within the Main theatre Suite IRH..
The unit consists of 6 operating theatres, a reception suite and a recovery area. The unit operates 24/7 Monday-Sunday 365 days of the year, with shifts covering both the out of hours periods, nightshifts, weekend and public holiday cover.
The unit provides peri operative care for patients undergoing a range of surgical procedures including, General Surgery, Breast Surgery, Orthopaedic elective surgery,
In addition: new for 2022 remobilisation of services: Robotic assisted Colorectal surgery. This is a really exciting new additon in which the Clyde scrub and anaesthetic nursing/odp team team provide theatre nursing resource with Clyde colorectal surgeons at the Queen Elizabeth theatre suite for two sessions per week.
The theatre department also benefit from a perioperative education SCN who works closely with staff in order to develop and support staff throughout the department.
In addition to having current NMC/HCPC registration applicants should be enthusiastic, motivated and have an interest of working in the peri-operative environment. Previous experience within the peri-operative environment is a definate advantage however not essential as full training will be given. The department offers team support and continuing education opportunities including supported funded access to the safe scrub module, anaesthetic and recovery courses at GCU as well as our own inhouse comprehensive training and mentorship programme.
These posts require PVG Scheme membership /Disclosure Scotland Check.
The successful candidates are required to demonstrate flexibility by working within a service, which runs over a 7 day week, including night shift. Furthermore, the successful candidates will be expected where necessary to engage in multi-site working within NHS Greater Glasgow and in order to achieve the needs of the service.
