CERTIFICATION/EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE:

Current Certificate of Registration ~ College of Nurses of Ontario in good standing required
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Providers (HCP) Certificate required (recent
within the last twelve months)
Current Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) Certificate required (training delivered by Health
Centre upon hire)
Minimum (2 - 3 years) Medical/Surgical experience (within the last 2-3 years) required
Current certificate in I.V. Therapy required
Required experience with:
Central Venous Lines Management (CVC)
Wound management (simple, complex)
Drain care and management
Ostomy care and management
Vac Therapy
Hyperalimentation, enteral feeding care and managements
Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN) Certification
CADD pain pump, (epidural, PCA, palliative care modalities)
Pain management
Continuous Bladder Irrigation (CBI); whistle tipping an asset
Burn care and management
Telemetry management
Chest tube care and management
Tracheostomy and suctioning care
Palliative Care experience is an asset
Knowledge or Experience with Chemo patients is an asset
Knowledge or Experience with Peritoneal Dialysis is an asset

Must demonstrate excellent level of written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with all members of the multidisciplinary
team, clients, families, regional support services and community partners required
Ability to provide health teaching to individuals and groups required
Must be committed to continuing education on an annual basis and demonstrate commitment to
quality improvement required
Ability to effectively assume a leadership role as a collaborative member of the health team
required
Ability to assume responsibility for patient care in a total patient care climate required
Able to meet the physical demands required to provide nursing care to all patients required
Ability to problem-solve and function in fast-paced environment required
Excellent demonstrated assessment, critical thinking and intervention skills required
Must demonstrate basic computer knowledge
Must demonstrate commitment to ensure personal safety, safety of fellow workers, patients,
volunteers, and visitors
Ability to support and contribute to a culture of safety and prevention of adverse health events
required
Must demonstrate good attendance and work record
