Company Overview Premier Surgical Center in Erie, PA is an accredited ambulatory surgery facility specializing in ophthalmology procedures. Position Summary We are now hiring a part-time Operating Room Nurse to work 2-3 days per week between (Monday - Thursday day shifts). The ideal candidate must demonstrate a commitment to support the clinic’s goals of providing each patient with a positive experience while receiving quality comprehensive eye care from the providers. The Operating Room Nurse provides ongoing assessment and nursing care to patients in the facility in accordance with Physician’s orders, policies, procedures, and processes within the scope of practice. Collaborates with physicians and team members to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care. The Operating Room Nurse is responsible for the direct and indirect provision of safe, professional nursing care of the patients in the operating room. The nurse is accountable for ongoing evaluation and documentation of all components of care delivered to patients within the perioperative and outpatient environment utilizing the nursing process. Responsibilities Follows and completes assignments as given by the Administrator / Clinical Director and Providers Collaborates with appropriate disciplines in developing coordinated outcomes and interventions Circulates surgical procedures for various surgeons that operate at the facility Supports and maintains a safe patient care environment Ensures that the Operating Rooms are maintained in a clean, safe, and sanitary manner Prepares surgery suite for surgical procedures Follows established universal precautions in the use of PPE Individualizes patient care according to patient’s health status and surgery/procedure being performed Operates equipment and performs technical skills according to policies and standards Recognizes situations (patient, staff, visitor, and physician) and significant assessment findings that require verbal or written communication and follow through to the appropriate people Monitors surgery inventory and notifies appropriate individual(s) when supplies are needed Participates in identifying and developing the performance improvement focus and criteria Supports the mission, vision, and core values of the organization Observes facility policies, procedures, and processes Purposefully conducts all aspects of job in an ethical manner in support of the organization’s commitment to ethical behavior in all areas of personal and professional activity Qualifications High school graduate or GED certificate recipient Graduate of accredited school of nursing Active RN license in the state where work will be conducted. BLS and ACLS certification Current surgical experience (within past 3 years) Ability to make sound nursing judgment based on nursing theory. Demonstrates primary nurse accountability through coordination, communication, and continuity of patient care. Must be able to assess, prioritize, plan, and implement direct patient care. Assumes responsibility for competency of practice and takes initiative for professional development and continuing education. Working knowledge and experience in hospital or ambulatory surgery center including direct patient care. Ability to adhere to work schedule and manage time appropriately.
