Position Summary Provides direct patient care on the Medical-Surgical unit using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice. Communicates effectively with the care team and the patient/family to support safe, high-quality outcomes. Reports to the Director or Manager of Department. Essential Functions Performs plan-of-care interventions, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, and other medical care activities. Documents patient care provided in a timely and accurate manner. Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition to the care team, physicians, patients, and families. Assists patients with activities of daily living (hygiene, elimination, nutrition, ambulation). Collaborates across disciplines to coordinate care (transfers, discharges, referrals, psychosocial/spiritual support). Assesses learning needs and delivers age/culture-appropriate patient/family education. Advocates for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient. Participates in performance improvement and required continuing education. Provides quality patient care and works other shifts/units as needed; may take on-call assignments.
