Department: PACU Daily Work Times: 9am - 5:30pm Shift: Mid shift/8 hours Scheduled Bi-Weekly Hours: 72 Position Summary: Collaborates with physician to provide a plan of care that will return the patient to optimal health. Provides bedside nursing care and carries out medical orders. Delegates to and oversees Nurse Assistant, Patient Care Associate, OB Care Associate, Surgical Service Assistant, Nursing Clerk and Psychiatric Tech functions. Responsible for evaluating effectiveness of care plan. Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Assumes responsibility for a leadership role encompassing: Team leads as assigned, responsible for efficient time management of peers (and self), ensuring efficient, cost-effective use of dept. resources, and ordering of supplies (may be delegated). Possess ability to perform various assessment techniques, including cardiac rhythms and airway management, to identify potential/actual problems related to anesthesia and relevant surgical procedure. Consult anesthesiologist/physician when appropriate using assertive communication skills. Utilize and troubleshoot specialty equipment (blood glucose monitor, IV pumps, Bladder scanner, ARJO lift/slides, EKG machine) in an independent, safe manner. #LI-LM1 Required: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and holding a current license to practice in the state of Michigan. BLS issued by American Heart Association or Red Cross Certification. Preferred: Previous experience in Surgical Services area
