RN - PCU 2 - PRN - Nights This position coordinates total nursing care for patients, participates in patient and family teaching, acts as a patient advocate and works as part of a team with ancillary and non-nursing departments. Reports to: Department Director FLSA: Non-exempt Education: Associate’s Degree Nursing (ADN) Required; Bachelor’s Degree Nursing (BSN) Preferred License: Applicants should have a current state RN license or a current multistate compact license and possess an associate or bachelor’s degree from an accredited nursing school. Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire; Required Skills Ability to understand, communicate, and react effectively to patient and family needs Critical thinking Work well under pressure while keeping calm and maintaining customer focus Essential Functions 1. Assesses the patient’s condition and nursing care needs 2. Sets goals and prescribes appropriate nursing interventions to meet physical, psychological, social and rehabilitative needs of patients 3. Develops individual nursing care plans 4. Implements care plans and makes revisions as needed 5. Evaluates patient care outcomes 6. Collaborates with physicians and other hospital employees 7. Administers medications, treatments and therapies. 8. Communicates with patients and oversees provision of care. 9. Provides patients and/or family with instruction and education relevant to condition. 10. Accurately documents nursing observations, assessments, medications, treatments, and other care given. Nonessential Functions 1. Maintains facility equipment, supplies and work areas. 2. Assists in the orientation of new employees 3. Coordinates and supervises activities of employees and department operations 4. Participates in performance/process improvement activities.
Responsibilities
