Your Opportunity:
The Adult Acute Inpatient Psychiatric Intensive Care unit (Psych ICU) at Alberta Hospital Edmonton provides a patient and family centered care, where all members of the team work within the collaborative care (Co-ACT) framework. Reporting to the Unit Manager, the Registered Psychiatric Nurse - ICU in the Psych ICU is responsible for the rapid assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care for Psych ICU patients. Psych ICU patients pose a level of risk to themselves or others that cannot be managed in a non-Psych ICU environment, and require rapid, dynamic and therapeutic interventions. Has thorough knowledge and experience of evidence based addiction and mental health treatment modalities (both pharmacological and nonpharmacological). Has strong verbal communication skills (English language proficiency is required) that supports verbal messages being received and understood within the context of crisis and non-crisis situations. Has demonstrated ability to practice in a recovery-oriented and trauma-informed manner. This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024.
