We are searching for Acute Care Registered Nurses, to work in our Adult Congenital Heart Unit – nurses who work well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you will provide nursing care to adult and pediatric patients with acute care needs. Working in a Cross Coverage Care Model will afford you a unique opportunity to provide continuity care to patients with complex congenital heart disease at various stages within our Heart Center of Excellence. We care for patients with congenital heart disease that need life-long cardiac care from pediatrics to adulthood. Apply today to be a part of their journey as a member of this specialized care team. The learning opportunities are endless beginning with training on a variety of Ventricular Assist Devices (VAD’s), multiple infusions like Heparin and Diuretics, hemodynamic monitoring, early mobilization, and respiratory therapy management. Think you’ve got what it takes? • 2 yrs nursing experience • Experience in Cardiology and/or IMU/Stepdown Minimum Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree in nursing, or an associate’s degree in nursing and current enrollment in a nursing bridge program is required • Current licensure with the Board of Nursing for the State of Texas or Nurse Licensure Compact • 9 months of professional nursing experience required, • BLS certification from the American Heart Association is required As part of our commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy workplace, all successful candidates will be required to undergo respiratory fit testing in compliance with occupational health and safety standards. Responsibilities: • Performs and documents assessment of the patient/family including biophysical, psychosocial, developmental (age-appropriate), culture, spiritual, and environmental needs in an organized and systematic manner • Analyzes situations, anticipates potential problems, and detects changes in patient status • Re-prioritizes and updates plan of care based on new information and changes to the patient’s condition; communicates this information to other health care team members and documents in the medical record • Participates in interdisciplinary rounds and/or patient care conferences and documents in the medical record • Assists patients/family in implementing their role in the plan of care as appropriate • Assess patient family learning needs capabilities, preferences, and readiness to learn prior to teaching • Demonstrates positive and effective interpersonal skills when dealing with patients/families, visitors, peers, and other health care team members • Administers and documents medications and treatments in a timely manner • Demonstrates willingness and ability to acquire new knowledge and utilize new skills needed to improve individual, team, and organizational performance • Participate in unit performance improvement initiatives
Responsibilities
The Registered Nurse will perform patient assessments, analyze situations, and update care plans based on patient status. They will also participate in interdisciplinary rounds and assist patients and families in implementing their care plans.
