NOW HIRING – DIABETES EDUCATOR FULL TIME IN PRINCE GEORGE

We are seeking a committed and knowledgeable Diabetes Educator to join a mobile healthcare team serving rural and remote First Nations communities in Northern British Columbia. This role offers a unique opportunity to provide direct client care, health promotion, and education, while contributing to improved diabetes outcomes and community wellness.

IMPORTANT SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Registered Nursewith current registration in good standing.
  • Certified Diabetes Educator designation, or willingness to work towards competency.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of diabetes testing, diagnosis, and management practices.
  • Experience in a clinical health setting or cross-cultural health promotion environment.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of First Nations culture, traditions, and adult learning approaches.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to rural and remote communities.
  • Clear Criminal Record Check (renewable every three years).

Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide diabetes education and care across the lifespan (Pre-Diabetes, Gestational Diabetes, Type 2, and high-risk individuals).
  • Conduct point-of-care testing, vision screening, and follow-up visits.
  • Review and maintain client medical histories; communicate findings to primary care providers.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to develop care plans and coordinate services.
  • Deliver individual and group education sessions using culturally relevant approaches.
  • Support community awareness initiatives such as conferences, workshops, and health events.
  • Compile and manage health records and statistical reports.
  • Advocate for clients and act as a resource to other healthcare staff.
