Description Position: Registered Nurse (RN) – Staff Nurse Employment Type: Full-time Reports To: Patient Care Manager Job Summary: As a Staff Nurse, you will provide compassionate nursing care to terminally ill hospice patients and support their families through end-of-life care and bereavement. You will work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary hospice team to ensure continuity and quality of care in patients’ homes and hospice offices. Key Responsibilities: Assess and reassess nursing needs of hospice patients regularly. Provide hospice nursing services, treatments, and preventive procedures. Initiate nursing procedures relevant to patient care and safety. Observe and report changes in patients’ physical or emotional conditions to physicians and the interdisciplinary team. Educate, supervise, and counsel patients and their families regarding care. Supervise and train nursing service personnel including hospice aides. Develop and update patient/family care plans with the interdisciplinary team. Participate in team conferences and maintain required patient records. Follow hospice policies, maintain confidentiality, and comply with HIPAA. Participate in on-call coverage as needed. Maintain professional skills and knowledge through ongoing education. Work Environment: Travel to patient homes and work within the hospice office. Exposure to physical demands including lifting, walking, and exposure to various environmental conditions. Must have reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license. Requirements Graduate from an accredited school of nursing. Currently licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state. Minimum of 2 years nursing experience preferred; recent patient contact within last 3 years (preferred). Ability to work independently and make sound clinical judgments. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to cope with emotional stress. Ability to supervise nursing staff and respond to crises outside hospital settings. Completion of hospice training program required (or willingness to complete). Physical capability to perform essential duties, including lifting patients up to 100 pounds and tolerating exposure to elements like odors, blood, and body fluids. Must provide annual TB test and other state-required health screenings. Must have a valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and reliable transportation. Ability to adapt to diverse social, racial, cultural, and religious backgrounds.
