Registered Nurse – ICU – PRN Nightshift Position Summary Provides direct patient care in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice. Reports to the Director or Manager of Department. Essential Functions * Performs plan of care interventions, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, and other medical care activities. * Documents patient care provided. * Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition to the care team, physician, patient, and family. * Assists patients with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation. * Collaborates across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including transfers, discharges, referrals, and psychosocial/spiritual support needs. * Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances. * Advocates for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient. * Participates in performance improvement and continuing education. * Provides quality patient care and works flexible shifts or units as needed. * Maintains regular and reliable attendance. * Performs other duties as assigned. Additional Information Patient Populations Served: Neonate, Infant, Early Childhood, Late Childhood, Adolescent, Young Adult, Middle Adult, Older Adult. Protected Health Information Accessed: Demographic, Clinical, Insurance, Financial, Complete Medical Record. Exposure: Occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens is present for all employees. Physical Requirements: Frequent standing, walking, lifting/moving patients, and repetitive hand/arm movements. Regular exposure to biological and chemical hazards, including blood and bodily fluids, hazardous medications, and latex. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or abilities required. Education: Associate’s Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred. License: /Certifications: Current RN license in state of practice; BCLS required; ACLS, PALS, and Handle with Care preferred.
