Key Responsibilities * Patient Assessment: Continuously monitor fetal heart rates, maternal vitals, and progression of labor utilizing evidence-based practices. * Clinical Care: Assist physicians during both vaginal and cesarean deliveries, and provide immediate post-partum and neonatal stabilization. * Medication Administration: Safely calculate, prepare, and administer labor-inducing agents, pain management, and other obstetric medications. * Family Support: Educate and guide patients and their families through the labor, delivery, and immediate postpartum phases. * Collaboration: Communicate seamlessly with an interdisciplinary team, including OB/GYNs, anesthesiologists, and neonatal specialists. * Professional Growth: Participate in shared governance and continuous skill development. Qualifications & Requirements * Education: Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (ADN or BSN). * Licensure: Active, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia. * Experience: Minimum of 1 year of acute care nursing experience. Previous L&D or Women's Health experience is highly preferred. * Specialty Support: Transition to Practice (TTP) / Nurse Residency programs and structured preceptor training are available for nurses moving into this specialty.
