Registered Nurse (RN) - Lead Nurse Operating Room - St Francis Downtown JOB SUMMARY: The Team Leader/Charge Nurse serves as a clinical leader in the Nursing Department to ensure that each patient receives quality, individualized care that is proactive and coordinated among the care delivery team and that the patient is attaining their clinical milestones and patient flow. The Team Leader is responsible for assisting with the oversight of daily operations of the Nursing Unit. The Team Leader is responsible for the development and coordination of activities that promote clinically effective and efficient patient care. Plans, organizes, and directs patient care activities under the direction of the nurse manager. Collaborates with the nurse manager in maintaining unit operations, supervises assigned personnel and consults and collaborates with other health care team members to provide safe appropriate patient care. PRIMARY FUNCTION/GENERAL PURPOSE OF POSITION: Responsible for timely assignment and facilitation of admissions based on established milestones. Anticipates and intervenes to assure patient milestones are met, including rounding with physician. Participates/facilitates in Quality Flow Rounds (QFR). Maintains working knowledge of proper patient type and consults with case management as needed for status updates. Collaborates with Case Managers, Social Workers and Staff Nurses regarding discharge needs/ barriers to discharge Supports implementation of new processes to improve patient care Identifies performance improvement opportunities and offers suggestions for improvement. Role models clinical excellence and demonstrates current technical and therapeutic skills. Assists in maintaining appropriate staffing assignments using budgeted guidelines. Assists with orientation, competencies, and continuing education for staff In collaboration with the Nurse Manager/Assistant Nurse Manager, enforces code of conduct and policies using effective and constructive communication skills. Assists with recruitment and selection of personnel as requested. Active participant in service recovery through investigation and intervention. Performs chart audits for accuracy and completeness. Works with other departments to coordinate patient care. Facilitates unit cleanliness and order and participates in environmental rounds. Evaluates the care provided by other members of the team. EDUCATION: BSN preferred or obtain within 3 years of employment Graduated from an accredited School of Nursing or accredited program of Surgical Technology. LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONS: Current South Carolina RN License or in reciprocity. Certification in area of specialty within 2 years Maintain BLS, ACLS, and PALs as required based on unit competencies Minimum of 2 years Professional Nursing experience.
