POSITION SUMMARY
The Medical Unit is currently looking for a Temporary Full Time Registered Nurse to join their healthcare team.
Effective Date: August 26, 2024

DEPARTMENT/UNIT/PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The Medical Program Inpatient Unit is an acute care unit supported by a patient-centered multi-disciplinary team which respects patients’ confidentiality, rights, and choices. All patients requiring medical care can be admitted to the medical program. The most common types of patients admitted to the unit are: acute coronary syndromes (heart attacks, angina), congestive heart failure, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), diabetes, and pneumonia.
* Ross Memorial Hospital qualifies for the Government of Canada’s Student Loan Forgiveness Program. Nurses may be eligible to receive up to $20,000 in Canada Student Loan forgiveness
Ross Memorial Hospital is participating in the Community Commitment Program for Nurses (CCPN). If you are a new grad and/or have not been employed as a nurse in Ontario in the last 6 months, you may be eligible to receive up to $25,000 in grant funding *
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Current Certificate of Registration (CNO)
- Current BCLS certification, on hire
- Current IV certification
- Coronary Care 1 at a post graduate level or obtain within six months of hire
- Physical Assessment courses at a post graduate level
- Strong understanding of cardiac rhythm interpretation (Tested)
- Minimum 3 years acute medical experience
- Demonstrated ability to deal with effectively and co-operatively with all levels of staff, patients and the public
- Demonstrated problem solving, communication, team work and critical thinking skills
- Demonstrated organizational and time management skills
- Strong patient teaching skills that demonstrate a broad knowledge of medical care
- Attendance record in line with the norm outlined in the RMH attendance awareness program
- Demonstrated skill in safe/correct techniques for transferring and positioning patients
- Strong understanding of both the Total Care Model and Program Management
- Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and professional development
- Demonstrated support of program development (i.e. committee work, team meeting attendance…)
- Must be participating in the CNO quality assurance program
- Strong understanding and demonstrated practice of the CNO professional standards
- Must be able to fulfill physical requirements of the job, as per Physical Demands Analysis
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- BScN
- Post Graduate Medical Certification
- Epic trained or ability to train and pass testing
