Description
The Registered Nurse who works in the school setting is required to work with a high level of autonomy, as they are the only medical professional on campus. School nurses (RN) provide health education to staff and students, performs complex health procedures (PEG tube care, Emergency Trach Care, etc.) and delegates non-complex procedures to Medical Assistants (MA), Trained Unlicensed Personnel, Paraprofessionals (TUP), Unlicensed Diabetic Care Assistants (UDCA), and School Health Assistants (SHA). The school nurse (RN) is responsible for administering, counting, and storing medications for students. The school nurse (RN) makes supervisory rounds for the School Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse (LPNs), MAs and SHAs, and completes the environmental survey at assigned campuses. Additionally, the school nurse (RN) performs all other health related tasks as necessary.
