QUALIFICATIONS

  • Registered and in good standing with the Nova Scotia College of Registered Nurses
  • First Aid/CPR certification
  • Evidence of good attendance and job stability
  • All certificates to accompany application
  • CPI Training
  • Computer skills including the ability to navigate basic computer programs such as Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • Certification in geriatric nursing and l year of experience in a long-term care environment are assets.
  • Strong clinical assessment skills and the ability to make sound decisions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to providing high-quality, compassionate care.
  • All successful applicants must pass the Criminal Record & Vulnerable sector check applicable to Provincial guidelines.

PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Good attendance
  • Must be a team player collaborating with other members of the Resident Care team
  • Apply nursing theory in the assessment, evaluation and coordination of resident care
  • Must possess excellent supervisory and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated leadership, critical thinking, delegation and problem-solving skills
  • Work with minimal supervision.
  • Required to perform all tours of duty (Days/Evenings/Nights/Weekends/Holidays) consisting of 12 hour shifts

Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse (RN) is accountable to the Director of Clinical Services and Professional Practice to provide professional resident centered nursing care and supervise the overall quality of care provided by LPNs and CCAs. Primary functions include assessment, planning and ongoing revision of resident care and delivery of skilled procedures consistent with Nova Scotia College of Nursing (NSCN) Standards of Practice.
The RN provides overall clinical and operational leadership in the following areas: evidence- based practice, interprofessional team coordination, quality improvement, risk management, health and safety to ensure the delivery of safe, effective and ethical resident care.
