This posting will be used to fill a PART-TIME (0.40) and primarily EVENING shift vacancy at the Minnesota Veterans Homes (MVH) - Minneapolis. The work schedule will include at least 32 hours per 2-week pay period and may include additional work hours, based on business needs.
** The position is initially eligible for shift differential pay of $2.75 per hour for hours worked between 6:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m.
The Registered Nurse Senior (Officer of the Day) will assist the Nursing Management team by providing clinical expertise and guidance to the Nursing Department to ensure continuous quality care delivery. As the OD this position will be responsible to direct resident centered and resident focused care and assumes delegated authority in the absence of Nursing leadership.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

* This is an EVENING part-time (0.40) position, work hours are 2:30 pm - 11:00 pm. *

  • Licensed in Minnesota as a Registered Nurse with no restrictions
  • Two (2) years of experience as a Registered Nurse working in a skilled nursing facility with primary responsibility for coordinating and assessing plan of care.
  • Experience with clinical documentation and writing investigative reports.
  • Knowledge of federal and state regulations related to skilled nursing and state survey.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification or (Optional; ability to obtain certification within the probation period.)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Three years of experience as a Registered Nurse working in a Skilled Nursing facility with primary responsibility for coordinating and assessing plan of care.
  • Experience working in close cooperation with an interdisciplinary team.
  • Experience leading or supervising professional-level nursing staff.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) background check may be conducted on the top finalist(s) for the position(s). When conducted, a finalist must pass the DHS background check.
  • A Tuberculosis (Mantoux) screening (or chest x-ray) is required prior to employment.
  • Employment reference checks will be conducted on all finalists. This may include a review of documentation related to job performance. It also includes contact with the applicant’s former employer(s).
