Registered Nurse SHORT HOUR (ON CALL) Position Summary Position Purpose The Registered Nurse is responsible for overseeing all aspects of medical care for those individuals for whom RHD provides services. Major Responsibilities * Complete daily mental status exams on 6–12 residents. * Complete narcotic counts at the beginning and end of shift. * Administer medication via the medication administration record. * Identify early signs of psychiatric relapse, medication side effects, or medical issues. * Maintain detailed nursing notes in EMR/charting. * Document progress toward treatment plan goals. * Ensure compliance with state regulations, Joint Commission, and organizational policy. * Lead response to psychiatric or medical emergencies. * Make patient appointments and assist in transportation when needed. CLINICAL * Collaborate on Personal Recovery Plans which emphasize residents’ strengths and needs. * Engage with residents regularly to note changes that may impact the recovery plan. EDUCATIONAL * Participate in program milieu. * Attend and/or facilitate educational groups and meetings. * Provide education to support residents in understanding medication management. * Provide education to support residents in understanding daily health and wellness needs. MEDICATION AND HEALTH MANAGEMENT * Complete assessments/physicals within regulatory time frames. * Ensure residents’ prescriptions are current and collaborate with MD as needed. * Coordinate medications and health needs with the program Psychiatrist. * Maintain electronic medication administration record (eMAR). * Monitor the administration of all medications. * Assist residents with scheduling medical appointments and follow up on recommendations. * Coordinate physical healthcare with Primary Care Physicians and specialists. PROGRAM * Document educational groups and other resident contact. * Participate in case consultations, staff meetings, and supervision as assigned. * Attend training as required by RHD and licensing bodies. * Perform duties as assigned by director to ensure continuity of care. Job Qualifications and Competencies Job Qualifications • Current PA RN/LPN licensure • Current CPR/First Aid certification • Experience with Behavioral Health/Criminal Justice preferred • Valid Driver’s License • Act 33/34 clearances • FBI clearance as needed • All trainings required by licensure * Must complete a Physical, TB test, and Hep B titer.
