Your role at St John of God Langmore Centre You will provide service excellence in the delivery of patient centred care. The RN will perform this role within their scope of practice (as registered by the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency). The patient care is delivered in accordance with the mission, philosophy and values of St John of God Healthcare. The Position Accepts accountability for professional conduct practices within scope of practice. Ensures that all documentation is accurate, legible and completed in a professional and timely manner in the patient’s hospital medical records. Delivers direct care and treatment by performing accurate mental state examinations and risks assessments. Develops and implements nursing care plans in collaboration with patients and the inter-disciplinary team. Participates in the nursing process with each individual patient and documents changes in the care plan as required using a bio-psychosocial spiritual approach. Acts as a role model for Enrolled nursing staff and nursing students. Aligns theoretical knowledge with clinical practice. Available as a resource person for staff and patients. Inform the shift leader of any clinical incidents as it occurs; provide immediate steps ensuring that appropriate action is taken and that medico-legal requirements are met in the management and documentation of the incident. Accepts responsibility for communicating patient issues and progress at team meetings/ handovers to develop a problem solving approach to care which provides optimum outcomes. Ensures that patient education and discharge planning are provided to both patient and family where appropriate. Work proactively with patients in preparation for discharge. Develop and maintain an awareness of hospital and community resource/support groups available to patients and family and liaise with these services as required. Evaluate the effectiveness of nursing care with patients by monitoring progress and issues. You will have current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse and Post grad in Mental health, with minimum 5 years’ experience as Registered Psychiatric Nurse, AOD experience preferred. To succeed you will have ability to conduct relevant risk assessments including mental health risk assessment, mental state examinations and Drug and Alcohol assessments and you should be available to work for permanent night shift role.
