The Position Registered Nurse Responsible for the provision of a high standard of patient care to deliver quality patient outcomes in the mental health unit. Assist in the planning, implementation and evaluation of the day to day mental health and basic physical care requirements of patients. Participate in a variety of mental health and other clinical assessments, risk assessment and management; history taking and developing comprehensive nursing care plans. Responsible for assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient’s needs for own group of patients in accordance with the Model of Care, and refers complex matters to the Clinical Mental Health Nurse Delivers a high standard of patient care utilizing appropriate resources cost effectively. Maintains continuity of care by ensuring comprehensive handover of responsibilities to oncoming staff. Maintains a high level of communication and interpersonal skills. Participates in mental health promotion and educational programs for patients, families/carers. Adheres to and supports hospital policies, procedures and standards. Acts as the patient’s advocate and facilitate the rights of individuals. Participates in a multidisciplinary team approach to patient care through the continuum of care. Prioritises workload using resources effectively.
