Coordinates unit management activities in conjunction with manager/director. Facilitates unit staff development in collaboration with manager/director. Carries out the day-to-day operation plan of the unit under the direction of the manager/director. Serves as a resource to other health team members on the assigned unit. Works collaboratively with other departments to facilitate cost effective health care. The patients to be served may include: infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. Assumes patient care assignment based on unit needs. Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum Requirements Identify items that are minimally required to perform the essential functions of this position. Preferred or Specialized Not required to perform the essential functions of the position. Education: Bachelor’s degree upon hire. BSN Experience: One year experience as a registered nurse. Experience in specialty area. License(s)/Certification(s): Current Iowa license as a registered nurse. Current BCLS (CPR) Valid driver’s license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Must be able to communicate effectively with people of diverse professional educational and lifestyle backgrounds. Knowledge of basic computer skills. Other: Use of usual and customary equipment used to perform essential functions of the position.
Responsibilities
The Unit Supervisor provides leadership as part of the unit management team and coordinates unit management activities. They facilitate staff development and serve as a resource to health team members while ensuring effective patient care.
