Position Summary Provides direct patient care mainly in the Outpatient surgery unit and will also cross train to the PACU using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice. The Outpatient Surgery Unit takes care of all outpatients that are having surgery. The registered nurse will be responsible to take PACU call on average 4-5 days a month and some weekend call (approximately every 8th weekend). Because your experience matters. Reports to: Director or Manager of Department. Essential Functions: Registered Nurse gets the patient ready for surgery, provides care after surgery and discharges them home. Patient Populations Served: Neonate, Infant, Early Childhood, Late Childhood, Adolescent, Young Adult, Middle Adult, Older Adult. Protected Health Information Accessed: Demographic, Clinical, Insurance, Financial, Complete Medical Record. Exposure: Occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens is present for all employees. Physical Requirements: Frequent standing, walking, lifting/moving patients, and repetitive hand/arm movements. Regular exposure to biological and chemical hazards, including blood and bodily fluids, hazardous medications, and latex. Education: Associate’s degree in nursing required; bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred.
