POSITION DETAILS Job Title: Registered Nurse Practice: Dr. David Kuppersmith, MD; Internal Medicine Status: Full-time, year-round; Benefits Eligible Classification: Exempt - Salary Location: Vail, CO - this role requires you to be onsite with occasional travel to other clinic locations. Schedule: Monday - Friday; shift dependent on business needs Pay Range: The entry pay for this position is $70,000-$80,000. Entry pay will increase from this base rate based on health care or applicable customer service experience. We are seeking an experienced and compassionate registered nurse to join our internal medicine practice. The ideal candidate will play a key role in providing high-quality, patient centered care by building strong relationships that promote improved health outcomes and a positive patient experience. Summary of Responsibilities: Work with our internal medicine physician to deliver comprehensive care to our patients undergoing surgery Obtain patient histories, perform medication reconciliation, and vital signs Assist the physician in communicating lab results, medication instructions and ensure that each patient is in full understanding of their care plan Coordinate appointments, follow-up visits, and necessary referrals to ensure continuity of care Assist in managing a busy internal medicine practice serving approximately 2,000 patients annually Support patients across multiple platforms and settings, including pre and post-op, clinic, surgery center, physical therapy, and off-site environments Maintain the highest standards of professionalism, ethical conduct and attention to detail in all aspects of patient care Essential Functions: Collaborates with attending physician to treat internal medicine patients in both clinical and surgical settings; performs procedures within the RN scope of practice as directed by the supervising physician in the clinic.. Assists in preoperative evaluation and education. Performs initial interview and assessment of patient. Performs history and physical examination. Reviews diagnostic data. Prepares preoperative data sheets. Track and obtain radiographic studies and lab work required for preoperative patients. Assist in data collection and therapeutic treatments for multiple research studies. Communicate with outside/consulting physicians, occupational/physical therapists regarding ongoing care. Works with attending physician and staff to plan daily schedule to maximize efficiency of physician and assistant resources. Makes routine visits to assigned facilities and Steadman Clinic locations on schedule agreed upon with attending physician. Administrative tasks may include triaging and returning patient phone calls, preparing FMLA and disability forms and other correspondence under the direction of the supervising physician, and assisting with other tasks related to patient care. Contributes to development of evidence based clinical protocols and patient assessment forms. Establishes and maintains effective relationships with patients, families, key decision-makers, facility and department staff and collaborating physicians. Manages patient relations providing individuals with outstanding customer service and support; receives, investigates and resolves patient complaints and issues within the physician practice. Coordinates clinic schedule, patient flow, and serves as liaison to VHH and VVSC Handles various administrative details with initiative and good judgment. Answers inquiries and/or refers callers/patients to appropriate person/department. Gathers information and develops summaries as requested by physician. RN Scope Of Practice Greets the patients in a polite, prompt and helpful manner and provides necessary explanation of procedures Assists physician as needed Verifies that pre-screening forms are completed accurately Verifies medical history, medications, and allergies. Performs and monitors vital signs Maintains patient medical records including procedure and anesthesia logs Performs patient follow-up phone calls Obtains lab results prior to the scheduled procedure Chart Audits Assists with additional patients as needed Reviews emergency drills quarterly Maintains a clean, neat and organized environment Follows OSHA Guidelines Maintain confidentiality of all patient information per HIPAA guidelines and corporate compliance. General Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of patient privacy rights. Maintains confidentiality of all medical, financial, or other sensitive materials and information in printed, electronic or verbal form which may jeopardize the privacy of patients. Accesses and uses the minimum necessary patient identifiable information to perform job responsibilities and duties and only for authorized purposes. Requirements Knowledge, Experience, & Skill Requirements Current unrestricted RN license; ACLS; BLS Associates degree in Nursing Fluency in languages other than English preferred. Demonstrated problem solving and workflow management skills required. Must be energetic, quality driven and have proven ability to be productive member of a cohesive team of peers dedicated to providing optimum patient care. Must maintain a professional attitude towards patients and an excellent and collegial working relationship with other Steadman Clinic and hospital personnel in involved in patient care. Must exercise highest degree of professional judgment under the direct supervision and guidance of a licensed physician. Must demonstrate understanding of procedures, policies and documentation required to ensure compliance with hospital standards of care. Excellent critical thinking skills, ability to work independently, and manage time effectively. Knowledge of Microsoft Office products required. Pleasant, courteous telephone manner required and ability to handle irritated patients. Able to work in a fast-paced environment and handle a variety of tasks simultaneously; ability to work with frequent interruptions. Excellent organization, communication (both written and verbal), and interpersonal skills required. Must be able to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately and represent The Steadman Clinic in a mature, professional manner at all times.
