Position Summary We are seeking a skilled and patient-focused Sedation Nurse (RN) to provide moderate sedation care for patients undergoing interventional radiologic urology procedures. This role is responsible for comprehensive patient assessment, safe administration of sedation, continuous monitoring, and ensuring an exceptional patient experience throughout the procedural process. Responsibilities Clinical Care Conduct pre-sedation assessments (history, medications, allergies, airway, vitals) Administer moderate sedation and reversal agents per protocol Continuously monitor patient status (cardiac, respiratory, oxygenation, BP, LOC, pain) Recognize and respond to complications or emergencies Ensure patient readiness, including consent and NPO status Collaborate with physicians and procedural team to support safe, efficient flow Implement sedation plans and maintain accurate documentation Patient Education & Communication Educate patients and families on sedation and recovery expectations Communicate patient status and changes to the care team Administrative & Compliance Maintain readiness of sedation equipment and emergency supplies Ensure timely, accurate documentation and regulatory compliance Teamwork & Accountability Deliver compassionate, patient-centered care Collaborate with team members to meet departmental goals Complete assigned duties and participate in required training and education Requirements Qualifications Education & Certification Graduate of an accredited school of nursing Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina ACLS certification required Moderate sedation competency required Experience Prior experience administering moderate sedation in interventional radiology, endovascular, cath lab, or procedural settings strongly preferred Skills & Abilities Strong knowledge of sedation pharmacology and analgesia Advanced patient assessment and airway management skills Ability to recognize and manage sedation-related complications Excellent communication and documentation skills Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with the procedural team Why Join Us?
