Summary of Primary Function/General Purpose of Position
Under general supervision, assist the pharmacist to fill physician’s orders, select, assemble, and place medications for inpatient (acute care; hospital) and/or outpatient (ambulatory; retail; home infusion) services. A Registered Pharmacy Technician will be evaluated for advancement to a Certified Pharmacy Technician after knowledge achieved from an approved training program (as applicable to state) and passing national technician certification.

Licensing/Certification
Education
High school diploma, GED or foreign school diploma equivalent to a U.S. high school diploma.
OR
Have been employed continuously since before April 8, 2009, as a pharmacy technician without a high school diploma, GED or foreign school diploma equivalent to a U.S. high school diploma. (required)
Work Experience
Previous experience working in Retail, Ambulatory, Outpatient, Hospital, Acute Care, or Home Infusion pharmacy (preferred)
