AbleLiving Services is a non-profit organization providing personal support services to adults with disabilities living within their own home or one of our independent living facilities. POSITION SUMMARY:
Monitor the health status for clients within our transitional program which may include seniors and individuals with disabilities. Provide nursing services within a defined scope of practice. Monitor the building to ensure the security and safety of clients, staff and guests; and take appropriate action in an emergency situation.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Completion of a vocational, college or other approved program for licensed practical nurses and registration with a regulatory body required.
- Must have successfully completed the Canadian Practical Nurses Registration Examination and possess a current Registered Nursing Certificate of Competence for the Province of Ontario.
- Knowledge of Behaviour Strategies is an asset.
- Experience as an RPN working with persons with a disability and the senior population is an asset. Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Must demonstrate the ability to use tact and discretion and display professionalism at all times; demonstrate sound judgement and flexibility and be able to solve problems effectively.
- Certification in health and safety and first aid is considered an asset.
- Must be able to meet physical requirements of the job such as lifting and transferring of residents.
