We are currently hiring a Part Time (nights) Registered Practical Nurse to join our AbleLiving Community program in the East Hamilton area. Our site is accessible by public transit.
AbleLiving Services is a non-profit organization providing personal support services to adults with disabilities living within their own home or one of our independent living facilities. Our clients direct and customize the services they receive and we support them to maximize their independence and enhance their quality of life. We provide services across the Golden Horseshoe in the Mississauga, Burlington, Stoney Creek and Hamilton communities.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Monitor the health status for clients within our transitional program which may include seniors and individuals with disabilities. Provide nursing services within a defined scope of practice. Monitor the building to ensure the security and safety of clients, staff and guests; and take appropriate action in an emergency situation.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Completion of a vocational, college or other approved program for licensed practical nurses and registration with a regulatory body required.
  • Must have successfully completed the Canadian Practical Nurses Registration Examination and possess a current Registered Nursing Certificate of Competence for the Province of Ontario.
  • Knowledge of Behaviour Strategies is an asset.
  • Experience as an RPN working with persons with a disability and the senior population is an asset. Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to use tact and discretion and display professionalism at all times; demonstrate sound judgement and flexibility and be able to solve problems effectively.
  • Certification in health and safety and first aid is considered an asset.
  • Must be able to meet physical requirements of the job such as lifting and transferring of residents.
