AbleLiving Services is part of the Thrive Group. We are a not-for-profit organization that provides services funded through Ontario Health. Our Binbrook location is a 52-bed home that includes permanent beds, transitional beds, and 6 beds for clients who require ventilator assistance. AbleLiving opened its doors in 1978 with the first project being our Binbrook location. We continue to build the organization and provide exceptional services with support from Ontario Health. Our Binbrook location provides support for individuals with disabilities, seniors, as well as those with long-term chronic ventilation support needs. **Please note this location is not accessible by public transit - access to a vehicle or reliable transportation is required** Position Summary: Monitor health status of persons with disabilities and the senior population. Provide nursing services within a defined scope of practice. Monitor the building to ensure the security and safety of clients, staff and guests; and take appropriate action in an emergency situation. Requirements: Completion of a vocational, college or other approved program for licensed practical nurses and registration with a regulatory body are required. Must have successfully completed the Canadian Practical Nurses Registration Examination and possess a current Registered Nursing Certificate of Competence for the Province of Ontario. Knowledge of Behaviour Strategies is an asset. May be required to pursue a certificate in bliss symbols and/or sign language. Experience as an RPN working with persons with a disability and the senior population is an asset. Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Must demonstrate the ability to use tact and discretion and display professionalism at all times; demonstrate sound judgment and flexibility and be able to solve problems effectively. Must be able to meet physical requirements of the job such as lifting and transferring of residents Job Type: Temporary Full-Time (Night Line) Starting Rate: $27.27/hour as per CUPE Local Collective Agreement + Provincial Wage Enhancement of $3.00 We are currently hiring to fill an existing position on our team.
