Description
The Oncology Unit (C3) is an active inpatient oncology facility providing a continuum of care for adults with solid tumor malignancies. C3 is committed to investing in our nurses’ professional growth and development with the goal of developing a community of specialized oncology nurses who will seamlessly provide care to our patients along the cancer continuum. Nurses will be offered a standardized orientation to enhance building a foundation of oncology knowledge as well as create confidence to care for patients with cancer. As a member of the healthcare team, the Registered Practical Nurse assesses and evaluates patient care and provides nursing care according to the Standards of Practice for Registered Practical Nurses. Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Practical Nurse Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification Demonstrated willingness and ability to work safely with biohazardous byproducts Demonstrated ability to function in an environment which is fast-paced, collaborating with the RN Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patients, families and other members of the healthcare team Ability to set priorities and organize work in response to patient needs Demonstrated ability to support patients and families of patients who are terminally ill through death and dying Preferred recent (within the last 2 years) experience in the care of oncology patients and patients with digestive diseases
Responsibilities
The Registered Practical Nurse assesses and evaluates patient care and provides nursing care according to the Standards of Practice for Registered Practical Nurses. Nurses will be part of a healthcare team dedicated to providing care for patients with solid tumor malignancies.
