Description
As a member of this interdisciplinary healthcare team, the Registered Practical Nurse collaborates to provide pre and post-operative care to adult patients. Additionally, the Registered Practical Nurse supports the specialized day-to-day needs of patients. 1. Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Practical Nurse 2. Current Medication Administration and Asepsis certificates 3. Current certificates or current community college studies in asepsis, wound care, airway management, complex wound care, patient assessment, urinary catheterization, administering enteral feeds, medication administration, IV administration and IV management, transcribing physician orders 4. Current Heart and Stroke Foundation BCLS certification or equivalent 5. Completion of Physical Assessment Course 6. Recent experience (2 years) in an acute adult surgical unit 7. Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced, high turnover environment 8. Demonstrates strong interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills 9. Demonstrates critical thinking and decision making in assessment, problem identification and problem solving 10. Ability to prioritize and collaborate with the team when the patients condition changes 11. Evidence of commitment to professional practice and ongoing professional development
