Description
As a member of a Multidisciplinary Health Care team, the Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) applies clinical expertise and knowledge of adult, children and families to plan patient care, provide nursing intervention and evaluate clinical practice across the continuum of care meeting the client and family needs with the core values of respect, caring, innovation and accountability 1. Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Practical Nurse 2. CPO certified preferred (ECG interpretation) 3. Current Certificates in Medication Administration, Enteral Nutrition Via Gastrostomy Tube, Urinary Bladder Catheterization, Transcription of Physicians Orders, Advanced Wound Care and Airway Management, or has completed equivalent community college studies . Alaris Pump competency, Point of Care Glucometer training. 4. Recent: 2 years OR experience (Scrub training and/or previous experience with invasive procedures preferred.) 5. Recent: 2 years in a busy surgical or medical/surgical unit 6. Current Heart and Stroke Foundation course in CPR or equivalent 7. Able to take responsibility for a full patient assignment. 8. Demonstrated knowledge about neuro, , trauma and vascular surgeries 9. Demonstrated interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills 10. Demonstrates commitment to the principles of professional practice 11. Demonstrates judgment in carrying out his or her role or function and is responsible and accountable for acting on the interpretation of data 12. Demonstrates critical-thinking and decision-making in assessment and problem identifications 13. Demonstrates ongoing personal professional education and development by being current in available certifications and trainings for your area
