The Opportunity: The Registered Practical Nurse provides professional nursing care to residents in accordance with required medical care and professional nursing practice. The Registered Practical Nurse provides direction to the Personal Support Workers as defined by the College of Nurses Standard of Practice Working with Unregulated Health Care Workers. What Is In It For You: • In collaboration with the Registered Nurse, implements AgeCare policies and procedures on the unit. Provides input into the revision of procedures within the residence and the unit. • Liaises with physicians and other members of the health care team including external health care partners. In the absence of the Registered Nurse, immediately notifies the physician of any significant changes in resident status. • Works with other members of the health care team to ensure residents’ care needs are met. • Provides direction to Personal Support Workers on the care team. • Participates in shift report with members of the health care team, ensuring that all team members are informed of changes in resident status. What You Will Need: • A sound knowledge and background in geriatric, rehabilitation or long-term care nursing including activation, nursing, and personnel administration. • Knowledge of the Fixing Long-Term Care Act and Regulations, the appropriate sections of the Health Disciplines Act, Occupation Health and Safety Act, Pharmacy Act, Food and Drugs Act (Canada), Controlled Substances Act (Canada) Health Promotion and Protection Act, • Personal Health Protection Act, Coroners Act, College of Nurses of Ontario Standards of Practice and other pertinent Federal, Provincial and Municipal Statues which influence the operation of the Nursing Home and more specifically the nursing department. • A current Certificate of Competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario and a member in good standing. Salary Range: $32.30 - $34.63 per hour Salary placement based on qualifications and experience.
