POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible to the Health Services Manager for the management of all nursing and resident care services during the designated shift. This position will be a Team Lead position which holds responsibility of training new and current staff.

Responsibilities
  • Directs and supervises nursing personnel and other staff as required
  • Advise the Health Services Manger/Administrator of staffing requirements
  • Promotes and maintains harmonious relationships among nursing personnel, residents, families, professional community and the public
  • Conducts regular reviews of residents charts
  • Assists with planning, development, implementing and evaluation of the resident plan of care
  • Preparation and participation for resident Care Conferences with residents POA’s and/or family members
  • Provides direct resident care as outlined in the resident plan of care including but not limited to administration of medication, completion of treatments and resident teaching related to care needs
  • Ensure resident documentation adheres to CNO standards of practice
  • Responsible for the safekeeping and accounting of narcotics and all drugs
  • Administration and passing of medication according to the Ontario College of Nurses & Pharmacy guidelines
  • Participate in shift report with other nursing personnel and ensure staff are informed of changes in resident status
  • Follow proper procedures including but not limited to; Falls Prevention, Zero Tolerance Abuse and Neglect, Behaviour Management, and Incontinence Care
