Description:

RPN - PRIVATE HOMECARE

Introduction:

  • The RPN is part of a team providing long term care and support to assist with medical, psychological, and social needs of the client in accordance with an established plan of care.
  • The client is an adult female with Cerebral Palsy.
  • The RPN is the primary care and support provider to the client and supports the effective operations of the Home.

Salary:

  • $31.25 per hr + 6% vacation pay

Job Description:

  • Provides for personal care in accordance with established policy, physician’s orders, the resident plan of care and within the scope of practice of an RPN.
  • Contributes to and follows a plan of care to meet the clients assessed needs.
  • Responsible for maintaining accurate and complete records of personal care delivered.
  • Demonstrates a professional working knowledge of all equipment used in the delivery of nursing care.
  • Assists in maintaining an environment appropriate to meet clients individualized needs.
  • Support can occur in various locations within the individual’s neighbourhood. The individual might spend some time at home, in community or visit nearby cities or towns.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must possess certification as an RPN through a recognized college or educational institution.
  • Current CPIC with Vulnerable Sector, valid First Aid and CPR
  • Experience with or willingness to learn caring for a client on mechanical ventilation requiring respiratory interventions including tracheostomy care, suctioning, chest physiotherapy and assessment.
  • Must have strong teamwork skills and perform duties in a manner that is professional and demonstrates excellence in care and safety of the client.
  • Physically capable of performing strenuous activities of daily work life such as bending, lifting, and transferring client, pushing a wheelchair, and operating a mechanical lift.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Kind and caring outlook and manner.
