We are looking for a part-time RPN to join our urgent care team.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• RPN diploma
• Experience with immunizations, ear irrigation and cryotherapy is an asset
• Current registration with the Ontario College of Nurses is required.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Good computer skills in Word, Excel, and general spreadsheets
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team to provide client services
• English fluency is required and Bilingual (English/French) is considered an asset.
• Experience with Telus PS Suite is considered an asset.

• Welcome patients and take vital signs, apply aseptic techniques including sterile dressing, ensure infection control, and conduct specimen collection
• Provide safety and health education to individuals and their families
• Provide nursing services, within the defined scope of practice
• Monitor patients’ progress, evaluate the effectiveness of nursing interventions and consult with appropriate members of the healthcare team
• Update immunization status of the patients, ensuring status is current
• Perform and record immunizations as required
• Advise patient of possible side effects and instruct patients to remain in office for a present time post injection
• Stay up to date with the schedule of routine provincial immunizations
• Order vaccines from Public Health or manufacturer as directed. Ensure proper transportation and storage.
• Document fridge temperatures and ensure temperature is well maintained.
• Administers procedure such as cryotherapy, throat swabs, skin scapings, ear syringing or other test in scope of practise
• Responsible for wound care and suture removal
• Prepares procedure trays as directed
• Accurately completes requisitions. Instruct patients on appropriate specimen collection within appropriate containers
• Dispose of sharps and specimens appropriately
• Aids with pap test and pelvic examination for male Physicians as required
• Records accurate, concise documentation regarding patient history, phone conversation and encounters
