MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Handle repetitive standing, walking, bending and lifting up to 40lbs unassisted.
  • Significant multi-tasking and critical thinking in a fast paced environment.
  • Detail oriented, have a quick response time, and be calm under pressure.
  • Able to work as a team or an individual, without constant supervision.
  • Maintain a professional, compassionate, and courteous attitude.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Regular attendance and punctuality are essential.
  • Applicants must be licensed in Canada, in good standing, and have completed all requirements to maintain their license.

Responsibilities
  • Communicate with and educate clients on procedures, treatments, medications, common diseases/illnesses, and preventative healthcare.
  • Prepare and set up for a multitude of appointments and procedures.
  • Obtain and update client and patient medical records
  • Calculate, dispense, and administer pharmaceutical drugs and injections.
  • Perform routine dental scaling, charting and polishing.
  • Properly operate a variety of hospital and diagnostic equipment, while following current manufacturer instructions and monthly maintenance.
  • Collect specimens as required and perform routine laboratory/diagnostic procedures in hematology, microbiology, radiology, and ultrasonography.
  • Prepare, monitor and maintain critical, hospitalized, and anesthetized patients.
  • Handle and restrain patients safely and efficiently for various procedures.
  • Able and comfortable to work with, but not limited to, dogs, cats, exotics, reptiles, equine, and wildlife.
  • Maintain up to date logbooks in multiple areas of the clinic, following the current ABVMA guidelines.
