Description Job Title: Registration Clerk Reports To: Registration Manager Department: Health Center - Registration FLSA Status: Hourly Responsible for being the first point of contact for patients, staff, and guests presenting at the clinic, and performing all the administrative tasks associated with patient check in. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Greet and check patients in upon arrival. Assist patients with general inquiries. As directed, schedule patient appointments accurately and efficiently utilizing computer system. Enter and verify patient demographics and insurance information in the medical system. Interpret insurance benefits, contracts, and calculate patient cost utilizing online resources. Obtain and ensure completeness of all patient registration documentation consent forms. Explain payment options, including sliding scale fees, Medicare, Medicaid, and other forms of payment assistance. Collect patient co-payments/deductibles/balances and post payments per company policies. Responsible for closing and/or end of day processes, including but not limited to, daily posting of collected monies into the electronic medical system and balancing the drawer for end of day deposit. Navigate multi-lined phone system, and direct calls to appropriate department. Work closely with the nursing, provider, medical assistant, and extended care teams to ensure smooth patient flow and reduce cycle time. Adhere to HIPPA guidelines. Adhere to all Chambers Health appearance standards and maintains a professional dress at all times while working. Maintains friendly, efficient, positive customer service attitude toward customers, clients, and co-workers. Is responsive to customer needs. Uses Service Excellence model when interacting with patients, clients, and guests. Demonstrates commitment to professional growth and competence by adherence to organizational and departmental annual training commitments to provide a safe environment. Participates in self-development by attending mandatory in-services and educational programs appropriate to the goals and needs of the department. Maintains compliance with Chambers Health standards of operation. Always adheres to Chambers Health Business Conduct Policy. Maintains all records and reports to ensure compliance with all Federal, State and Local regulations and codes.
