Description Location: Harlan County Health System – Alma, Nebraska Schedule: Three 12-hour shifts per week; rotating weekends and holidays Join Our Team! Harlan County Health System is seeking a caring and detail-oriented Registration / Patient Care Technician to join our patient-focused team. This position plays a vital role as the first point of contact for patients and families, ensuring an excellent experience from registration to discharge—all while supporting direct patient care under supervision. What You’ll Do: Patient Registration & Communication Greet and assist patients and visitors in a professional, compassionate manner. Complete accurate registration, including financial and demographic data. Verify insurance information and coordinate with Utilization Review. Answer and direct phone calls, and assist staff with outgoing calls related to patient care. Respond to emergency calls per established protocols. Patient Care Support Assist nursing and ER staff with basic patient care needs, admissions, transfers, and discharges. Transport specimens to the lab and retrieve necessary supplies. Document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately. Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team. Safety & Infection Control Practice proper body mechanics and lifting techniques. Adhere to infection control standards and safe handling of materials. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Equipment & Supplies Restock and maintain equipment and supplies. Report any malfunctioning equipment or supply shortages. Additional Information Access to facility 24 hours a day. Access to confidential patient information per privacy policies. Serves patients across all age groups. Other duties as assigned. Requirements Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. Previous experience in healthcare or patient registration preferred. Strong communication, organization, and computer skills. Ability to work rotating weekends and holidays. Physical & Work Environment May sit or stand for extended periods. Occasionally lift up to 20 pounds. Work is typically performed in an office or clinical setting with a moderate noise level.
