ROLE OVERVIEW:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Regulatory and Compliance Manager with experience in the utilities sector to lead our compliance framework and ensure ongoing regulatory adherence. This role will be central to managing documentation compliance, overseeing data protection, supporting audits, and identifying regulatory changes that impact our customers and commercial operations.
You will work cross-functionally with Operations, Sales, and Supplier Relationship teams to ensure compliance while capitalising on regulatory opportunities to deliver value to our customers and business.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Customer Documentation Compliance:
  • Ensure all customer documentation templates (e.g. Letters of Authority, Consent Forms, Change of Tenancy forms) are accurate, compliant with utility sector regulations (e.g. Ofgem), and updated regularly.
  • Data Protection Compliance:
  • Ensure full compliance with data protection legislation (e.g. GDPR), including internal training and audits.
  • Monitor and advise on data handling practices across departments.
  • Audit Support & Record Management:
  • Support internal and external audits by maintaining well-documented, accurate, and compliant operational records.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of compliance checklists and internal controls.
  • Dispute Oversight & Resolution:
  • Lead the review and resolution of customer and supplier disputes related to incorrect metering data, billing discrepancies, or retrospective overcharging.
  • Validate findings and present outcomes to internal stakeholders, ensuring fair and regulatory-compliant resolution.
  • Training and Policy Communication:
  • Deliver training sessions to internal teams on new or changing regulations, with emphasis on potential cost-saving opportunities or policy expirations that could affect pricing.
  • Provide clear, actionable updates and summaries to non-technical audiences.
  • Regulatory Change Monitoring & Implementation:
  • Monitor upcoming, ongoing, or ending utility regulations and policies (e.g. Ofgem rulings, government energy efficiency schemes, market-wide half-hourly settlement changes).
  • Analyse and identify potential overcharges on customers bills and any potential savings from available government grants and schemes (Energy Intensive Industries, Climate Change Agreements etc.)
  • Identify customers likely to be affected or benefit and coordinate with Operations and Sales to implement supportive processes or initiatives.
  • Translate regulatory changes into business actions to maximise commercial and compliance opportunities.
