Part of Zebra’s worldwide Regulatory Department, this WAN specialist role involves working closely with our Program Management, Engineering, ODM/JDM partners and Test Laboratories to ensure successful WAN Certifications. Products include rugged Android and Windows tablets as well as specialized terminals similar to phones for connection to mobile cellular networks. The WAN specialist shall have in-depth experience of PTCRB/GCF approval processes within schedule and budget.Staying up to date with new technologies and requirements is paramount with regular review of product specifications to ensure successful and continual compliance. Responsibilities include obtaining certifications including any necessary waivers. Additionally, will contribute to develop solutions that optimize the organization and drive continuous improvements. Responsibilities: As a “Regulatory WAN Lead”, you will be responsible for providing support to Program Managers and Engineers based in the USA and Asia. You will also be expected to liaise with Test laboratories on behalf of Zebra and work closely with Zebra’s partners (ODMs/JDMs) through the regulatory process to ensure final certification of the product. The Candidate must work with Zebra Regulatory team members and external cross-functional teams, for management, tracking and reporting on aspects of PTCRB/GCF requirements for a product, including but not limited to RF, protocol, antenna performance (including multiple carrier requirements) and GCF Field Testing. Support of WAN aspects of country approvals is required. Influence cross functionally with both internal and external organizations. Work with ODMs/JDMs, Test Laboratories and Zebra Regulatory team to evaluate, select, and apply Industry standard compliance testing procedures and criteria. Develop specification and requirements documents to be supplied to development engineering teams. Tasks will include: Manages assigned programs and/or product compliance initiatives. Ensure optimal process exists and execute to evaluate, select and apply International test standards, compliance testing techniques, test procedures, and criteria for area of expertise. Interface with other Regulatory Leads in their areas of expertise. Maintain relationships with internal and external partners, including, but not limited to engineering, product management, program management, ODM/JDM partners, test labs, certification partners and regulators. Liaison with internal and ODM/JDM Development teams to ensure successful compliance on new product development. Preparation/Review of regulatory schedules, test plans and costing information from the test lab. Preparation/Review of status documents for issues. Managing any test or certification issues that arise. Monitor and Report on new requirements that could impact Zebra products. Support of Regulatory team in various areas as required including specialists within the same discipline Ensure Regulatory Process Documents are continuously developed, improved and maintained Recognized as a subject matter expert who exercises judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Strong knowledge in function, product, technology service, strategy, and business complexities in order to contribute to the development of creative solutions in area of expertise. Qualifications: Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical performance experience Minimum Work Experience (years): 8+ years related experience Key Skills and Competencies: Licenses/Certifications, special qualifications: Technical competence with strong analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills with demonstrated ability to interact with professionals and management to gather and disseminate information. Knowledge of Regulatory standards. Program Management skills including ability to generate and review test plans, schedules and budgets. Able to work independently as well as cooperatively in a team environment across many geographical boundaries and time zones Experience interacting with customers, certification bodies and test labs.
