How This Role Will Be Impactful
The Regulatory Specialist oversees the development of product specifications and labels to ensure the products produced by Farmer Focus meet customer and regulatory requirements. This role supports product commercialization by ensuring the product, ingredients and package labels meet regulatory requirements.

The development of food products by accurately reviewing product and ingredient specifications that help drive plant production. The role is also responsible in assisting the creation of new ingredients and their on-going management ensuring federal compliance and accuracy within the company.

  • Collaboration with cross-functional team, including R&D, Marketing, Sales, Production and QA Management to ensure product and labeling meet regulatory requirements and are supported by the food safety and quality management system. This role will provide regulatory guidance and interpretation and claim validation.
  • Specification management to ensure product specifications are accurate and meet customer and regulatory requirements. This is achieved through specification audits, pre-production specification meetings, and review of regulatory requirements.
  • Management of product claims and labeling to ensure compliance with food regulations, regulatory activities, and trends. This is achieved through supporting the packaging design process by reviewing claims and label artwork to ensure compliance before labels go to print.
  • Source and review data for product labels to ensure proper labeling of product nutritional information, ingredients, allergens, and product claims.
  • Responds directly to customer requests for information.
  • Assists with plant trials.
  • Works with third party certification bodies to maintain certifications, including BRC, Organic Certification, GAP, HALAL, etc.
  • Stays informed of USDA changes to regulations that impact food, nutrition, and allergen policies, and product claim substantiation.

What You Bring to the Role

  • B.S. degree in food technology, food science, or related curriculum and/or experience preferred.
  • 1 year of similar role and experience in the manufacturing industry preferred
  • BRC and HACCP certifications and training preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Excellent organizational skills, project management skills, and the ability to multitask.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to manage cross-functional and external collaborations and projects
  • Problem solving and troubleshooting skills; ability to create solutions
  • Possess a keen eye for detail, adept at identifying defects in items or processes, and consistently aware of safety risks within the working environment.
  • Demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills to effectively convey information, ideas, and reports across various stakeholders.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Will be required to access the production environment. Must be able to tolerate the varying heat, wet and chill of the plant. Hearing and eye protective equipment required in the production area. Required to wear hair and beard nets in the production area.
