THE CLIENT
The client has an acquired brain injury, and because of this he is physically and cognitively impaired and struggles with communication. The client requires support with activities of daily living, including personal care, assistance with transfers and accessing the community. He enjoys watching television, and spending time with his Mum and Auntie. He previously worked at Halfords, loved mountain biking and was a very active and hardworking young man.
JOB DESCRIPTION
We are recruiting for a Male Rehabilitation Care Assistant to work with a 33-year-old man with an acquired brain injury. The role involves supporting the client with activities of daily living, accessing the community, delivery of personal care and supporting the client at home to enjoy activities and pursue hobbies. Employees will work under the guidance of the case manager, staff manager and the multi-disciplinary therapy team. The client’s mum will also provide support, input and direction where needed.
The ideal candidate will have experience working in a brain injury rehabilitation, care or support setting and they will be empathetic, supportive, and passionate about caring for others. Confidence, initiative, and excellent lone working skills are essential to this role. The client may at times display challenging behaviour when frustrated or upset, so employees should have experience working with individuals with complex needs.
Candidates should be proficient in using Microsoft Office to record shift notes, and able to confidently communicate with the management team via email or telephone to report anything of significance relating to the client.
