Responsibilities Purpose of Your Position To assist therapists in the provision of transfers, passive standing programs, and other therapeutic services to the students in the Elizabeth Seton Children’s School. Understands and promotes Elizabeth Seton Children’s Mission, Vision, and Core Values to ensure application with organizational policies and procedures. To transfer and position and/or assist in the transferring and positioning of students from their seating systems to various standers, gait trainers, alternate seating systems, and various surfaces (i.e. mat, bed, bench, swing, stairs, bolster, therapy ball). To collaborate with therapist on daily and weekly student standing schedule. Assist therapist, teacher and classroom staff in maintaining a safe and organized learning environment (keep materials and equipment clean and in working order, set-up materials and have them available for use by students and staff during activities according to the daily lesson plan). Work with individual and/or small groups of students on learning goals during classroom activities as directed by the teacher and /or related service therapists. Assist students in physical care tasks and ADL’s. Assist therapist in recording and reporting accurate time documentation (student length of time in all equipment and/or bracing), according to Elizabeth Seton Children’s School Policy. Assist therapist in recording and reporting accurate skin check documentation. Transport students to and from school; making sure they are seated securely and have all necessary adapted equipment in working order. Be aware of therapy activities and location of students at all times; anticipate and respond to individual needs as directed by therapist. To relay messages and or communicate any problems with the Director of Related Services. Carry out standards for customer service; quality improvement; professional development; environmental, safety and infection control practices; confidentiality, corporate compliance and all other Elizabeth Seton Children’s policies and procedures; attend all mandatory in-services to ensure regulatory compliance and best practices in working with students and their families. Perform other tasks to support the operations of the school as assigned by School Administration Qualifications Education Requirements: High school degree; Bachelor’s Degree preferred Experience Experience with children with special needs in an educational setting. Familiar with adapted equipment. Employee Requirements: Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language fluently. Must meet or exceed all health standards and requirements for the position as established by NYDOH and all other regulatory agencies. Must meet the general health requirements set fourth by the policies of this School which includes a medical and physical examination. Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of thirty-five (35) pounds. Perform tasks that may involve exposure to the children’s blood/body fluids. Must be able to assist in the evacuation of children, if necessary. Working Conditions: Will work in a well-lighted and ventilated area. Will be subject to frequent interruptions. May be asked to work beyond normal working hours, and in other positions temporarily, when necessary. Hourly Rate: $30/Hr.
